Howdy guys, good wrap up of these issues and I think you are spending the right amount of time on each issue based on its merits. As far as some of the things you covered or questioned in Excalibur #47 I have some answers and comments.
As far as the figure standing next to Captain Britain is concerned I am pretty sure that is supposed to be Micromax. As far as your opinion on the ret-con, what Merlin is trying to tell Brian versus what Roma is tying to figure out from Brian is this. What ever Merlin is talking about is not a ret-con but a connecting of dots between the events of the last 3 years of comics. But what Roma is talking about is a ret-con because she is basically saying this did not happen. To take it a step further, Davis is basically saying, Merlin is telling you what really is going on while Roma is telling you that what happened in Excalibur: The Possession (1991) is bullshit and never happened. When Roma says “Some Agency, of considerable power, toyed with you.”, that was editorial control and Alan Davis did not like it, so he got rid of it, that’s a ret-con.
As much as I dislike stomping over creators there is just no way to defend Liefeld. It also really sticks out when you are putting him next to Alan Davis and JRJR. You may not like JRJR’s style but at least it’s coherent and tells a story. Keep up the good work and hopefully we will hear more from you in 2024.
