Howdy guys, decent B/C side episode, you only have one more New Mutant story to cover. Are you guys planning on doing the upcoming Annual cross over event “Kings of Pain” as one episode or will you be spreading them out? There is a lot of back up stories in those so I hope your constitution is high. You might even want to consider bringing back the idea of having a cocktail (or two) to smooth over those issues.
The Wolverine comics at this time are really fun, I feel like if you don’t like the direction of humor that Elsie D and Albert provide you probably are not going to like the next 6 issues or so of this title. I am a little surprised that you where not more into the Spider-Man book. It is by no means great or “classic” but I thought it was a pretty different direction than most other titles at the time. You could certainly chalk it up to trying too hard to be “dark and witty” but I thought it had some interesting ideas.
I have a suggestion for you about your coverage of Marvel Comics Presents. You are falling pretty far behind if your intention is to keep up with release dates to other books you are covering. I would suggest covering a whole story line at a time as for the most part this still will only add up to a couple of issues worth of normal size comics. I also think you would get more out of them that way (although in my opinion at least half of the Wolverine stories are pretty bad). Keep up the good work.
Putting someone in “traction” means pulling apart their broken bones so that the bones don’t heal in a collapsed or dislocated position. Very painful and lasts for weeks. I spent the summer of 1983 in traction, then in a full-body cast. If I had discovered X-Men at that time I would have suggested to the doctors to just go ahead and give me an adamantium skeleton while they were at it.
So in other words, Storm’s threat of putting that guy in traction until July of ’92 (a full year after the events of this Wolverine issue) means she planned on battering him so badly that his bones would dissolve to the consistency of a fine pudding. If that’s not a pickup line, I don’t know what is.
