Howdy fellas, fun episode and I would really like to see a Starjammers music inspired cartoon. That would be really entertaining and if made in the same vein as the Guardian of the Galaxy movies, could be pretty darn funny. Also don’t give up on the voices, they make the episode humorous. Just a couple of items of note for this episode. Karl Altstaetter will be an artist you will come across in the future a bit more. He was really good at matching Lee’s style so he wasted used a bit when needed before he got well known for his own stuff. When you guys where confused about the continuity of pages 26-27 with Rouges costume, and then determined that it was the holographic projector, but seemed still confused by how Rouge seemed to change from pages 27-28, its still because of the image of the holographic projector. If you look at the first panel on page 26, you will notice that Nick Fury, Zabu and Rouge are still partially “in” the holographic projectors effect. If you look closely at Rouge you will see she does have pants and knee pads on, it is the “fading image” of the hologram that makes her look like she has bare legs and a loin cloth on. I really found that to be a pretty cool image from Lee. As far as nit-picking clothes I really think you missed the a few with Storm. First of all Storm is wearing a different costume on the cover but more strange is the fact that on page 13 she is in a panel with Wolverine, Banshee, Proffesor X, Lilandra and Ch’od. Wolverine has a ripped shirt where you can see his flesh (and bandages). Storm has an equally ripped up shirt and pants but I guess she must wear two layers of clothes because you do not get flesh where you would think you should see flesh, weird.
This issue was really well done both from a writing and illustrative perspective. Magneto making a stand here, declaring he is going to go his own way was really well handled and will set up good stories to come. Behind the scenes I do not think Claremont would have gone this direction if he had his way but he still handled it very well. I’m surprised you did not like this issue Jeremy, but I think it stands out as a great achievement by two creators that spent way to little time together.
