Howdy guys, I too find Lorna Dane’s parental history to be somewhat of a head scratcher. Throw in Zaladane as her sister and it really makes my brain itch. If you take what we know about her up until 1991 (no future ret-cons or stories just what we know up to this point) then we know Lorna Dane’s parents are not her real parents, they are foster parents. So even if we use the very thin idea that Lorna and Zaladane are sisters because of the name, does that mean they are not blood related? We are told that Lorna’s original parents died in a plane crash, so if Zaladane is a blood-sister was she presumed dead with her blood-parents? That could be interesting I guess.
After re-reading the last 25 issues I feel like Claremont was trying to find away to get rid of Malice but at the same time trying to do something with a forgotten vileness and it just never worked for me. Zaladane never really had powers before, she mainly tried to resurrect the Petrified Man several time so she could use him for her plots and then hooked up with the High Evolutionary. We never really got the back story of how she did that as well as hook up with the Savage Land Mutates. Both times she tries to take over and do bad things, we never get a clear idea of why and it just comes of as very “silver-agey”, which is weird for Claremont as he is usually more thought out than this.
Oh well, still great art and great action, and the Magneto stuff is really great, hope you guys enjoy the new year, looking forward to your end of year statistics.
