Hey guys, a few comments regarding Australia: 1. The only three true missions they launched from their Australian base completely under their own initiative was to return stolen goods, an attack against the Brood in Colorado and taking out a fake Terminus in the Savage land. 2. There where three “filler issues”, Colossus helping Magik, the girls went shopping and to a strip club, and the men went boozing and saved the planet from an alien invasion. 3. The fight with Genosha was more of a reaction, the fight with the Marauders and Mr Sinister as well as the second invasion of the Savage Land was more of a manipulation by Pryor and Dane. 4. The only two attacks against their Australian base was by Nanny and the Reavers led by Pierce.
Jeremy is correct about Boom Boom and Bobbys child like back-and-forth going all the way back to X-Factor #12 (January 1987). But this did continue throughout X-Factor all the way to issue #42 (July of 1989), so having this pop up in December of 1990 does not seem that bad if you are a long time reader.
I think Gambit knows exactly what he is doing and how to play Storm when he confronts her outside the bunker. This is basically the exact same seen we have seen before in UXM #212 when Callisto also confronts Storm. In both instances she is questioning herself, both her leadership and her place in life. Callisto used “tough love” to get Storm to snap out of it while Gambit offers her a choice (one he knows she will not take) between a carefree life and one where she will have to step up and make the hard decisions again. The last panel can be read several ways depending on if you have read ahead or not, but taking it at the time on its own merit, I would say its one of triumph because he got his way.
The Gambit vs. Wolverine fight was penciled by Michael Golden. Wolverines worst enemy is Fang? Hah :)!
